Renovations – Day 1

We started our first day of renovations by scraping the many very loose layers of paint off the biggest wall in the space. Very satisfying work, but so much surface area to cover! Half way in we paused and were torn whether or not we should leave the “putz” (plaster) and paint it white, or keep scraping to see if it looks nice enough to leave raw. We kept scraping, and discovering interesting surfaces beneath from various holes and filling materials. By the end of the day we could kind of see that the main upper part of it looks okay and we will try to scrape off the rest tomorrow.

We won’t be scraping the rest of the wall, just painting over them to make them bright and help get rid of the strong cigarette smoke smell.

Daniel came to fix some things and ended up taking down the build up inside the nice big doorway so now the two big rooms are connected through a huge archway.

Daniel also introduced us to the existence of this tool for spraying water. We used it to dampen the plaster so that we could scrape it off more easily.

Renovations

Yucky sticky stuff on the window to the hallway had to come off too.
